People in general tend to be complacent and find confort in repetitive routines. Even though we long for better lot in life, as a general rule we are more comfortable being the ones who follow. Our Torah is filled with stories of exceptional individuals.

The avos did not think to poll their followers and then make decisions based on what was popular. They did not concern themselves with ideas like the left, or right. Concepts like modern or extreme, or reform did not exist.

Our fathers were concerned with doing what was right not in human terms but only in the eyes of Hashem.
